Book Fair FAQs
When can my student visit the Book Fair?
Each teacher will schedule a specific shopping time for their classroom during the week. The Book Fair will also be open before school, after school, and during recess (2nd-5th graders only). We ask that kindergarten and first-grade students be accompanied by an adult during these times.
What types of books are available?
The fair offers books from preschool to middle school levels. You'll find award-winning titles and authors, non-fiction and fiction, many themes and genres, graphic novels, reference books, hobby books, skill builders, cookbooks, and more. Please talk with your student about what you'd like them to buy (e.g., only books, or one non-book item). https://preview.scholasticbookfairs.com/hub?pkid=L3&flag=y&sdate=20260205
What non-book items are available?
You can also find items like posters, journals/diaries, puzzles, games, activity packs, fancy pens/pencils, bookmarks, and other knick-knacks. Limited quantity available, only while supplies last. Please discuss with your student what you expect them to purchase (e.g., only books, or one non-book item, etc).
What if my student buys a book I don't approve of?
If your child buys something that you find inappropriate, please return the book along with your receipt to the Book Fair for a refund.
What payment methods are accepted?
You can pay with cash, eWallets*, credit cards, and Apple Pay/Google Wallet.
Are purchases taxable?
Yes, all purchases are subject to tax. Tax charts will be available for students to reference, and volunteers will be on hand to assist students as needed.
How much money should I send with my child?
We recommend sending $20 to $30. If your child is buying small paperbacks, $15 to $20 should be enough. Please discuss with your student what you expect them to purchase (e.g., only books, or one non-book item, etc).
How much do books cost?
Books generally range in price from $8 to $16, or more. There is a table with books priced at $5-and-under.
What if I forget to get my kids cash during their classroom shopping day?
We have clipboards with a wishlist sheet, so they can write down the titles they want. Additionally, we will allow kids to put books on hold, and we will hold them until the end of the following day.
Can family members shop?
Yes! Family members can shop with their student before school or after school. Just check in through the front office. Remember, kindergarten and first-grade students need to be accompanied by an adult.
What do Book Fair Volunteers do?
We help ensure the book fair runs smoothly. Volunteers will assist with the cash registers, restock bookshelves, help students find the books they are looking for, and set up and pack up the fair.
Can I donate books to teachers and Seacliff Seacliff staff?
Yes, there will be bins for purchasing and donating staff-preselected books. After your purchase, you can choose to deliver the books directly to the staff member - or - we can place them in their mailboxes with a note on who donated the book.
eWallet Account FAQs
What is an eWallet Account?
An eWallet Account allows cash-free payments for your student(s). Parents or guardians can set up the account using the student's name, grade, and classroom teacher's last name. Please ensure that the information is spelled correctly.
How are purchases made with an eWallet?
At checkout, volunteers will look up the eWallet account on the cash register, either using the information you provide (please use teachers last name only and double check spelling is accurate) or through a barcode you print. If there are sufficient funds, purchases can be made and the total amount will be deducted from the account.
When can I set up my student’s eWallet Account?
You can set up the eWallet from January 15 to February 13.
What happens to leftover eWallet funds?
Unspent funds are saved to an eGift Card balance which can be used to fund a future eWallet (for any child), shop online with Scholastic, or contribute to ‘Share the Fair’. Leftover funds do not get credited back to your credit card.
